Sash Window Repair

Sash windows could be out of balance, or even break. Pam scours the web for salvaged, wavy glass and keeps an eye out for scraps of sash weights made of metal. She then searches for replacements, such as washers or nuts to balance her window.

Pam will bed each pan by putting an edging rope into the rabbet groove, or pocket around the opening. This prevents drafts and costly heat loss.

Sticking Sashes

It's a nightmare if your double-hung windows are stuck. They'll sway in the event of an icy storm and you'll lose view. A window that is too loose may allow air and noise in, which will increase your energy bills. Both of these scenarios aren't ideal but they can be fixed by using the right tools and persistence.

A common issue with old windows that are weighted is that paint may accumulate in the channels that they slide on, causing them blockage. Fortunately, the majority of issues with this can be solved by cleaning and lubricating the tracks.
